[Volume 1] A two years' cruise off Tierra del Fuego, the Falkland islands,Patagonia, and in the River Plate; a narrative of life in the Southern Seas
Snow commanded the Mission Yacht 'Allen Gardiner', named after the naval commander who founded the Patagonian Missionary Society in 1844. Gardiner and his crew landed in Tierra del Fuego to found their mission, but took ill and died before help could reach them.
Snow then established the mission headquarters on Keppel Island, South Falklands in 1855 at a period when the mission was battling against sealers and whalers for reducing and mistreating the local wildlife. Included are his remarks on the Falklands as a penal settlement, proposed by Governor Moore and supported by Snow.
