Description

This two volume work contains Captain James Clark Ross' account of his expedition to the Antarctic between 1839 and 1843. Ross commanded the HMS Erebus and charted much of the unknown continent's coastline along with making other botanical, zoological and other scientific discoveries.

A cornerstone of the Antarctic literature and a monument to one of mankind's greatest expeditions of geographical and scientific exploration. The expedition was 'the first to enter what is known today as the Ross Sea, the first to sight the Admiralty Mountains, the first to see Victoria Land, Ross Island, Mounts Erebus and Terror, and the Ross Ice Shelf, amongst other momentous discoveries.
