[Volume 7] Fac-simile of autographs of subscribers to the Picturesque views of seats of noblemen and gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland
Almost 300 years ago some Portuguese/Brazilian adventurers came upon the ruins of a great stone city in the jungles of eastern Brazil. They survived to retell their story which ended up in a manuscript in the Brazilian National Library in Rio de Janeiro. This manuscript is steeped in many mysteries and was one of the driving motivators for Percy Fawcett to explore within the Amazon until he vanished.
Richard Burton was the first to translate the manuscript in his book "The Highlands of Brazil" (Volume 2). This rare and unusual document is available in both English and Portuguese below.
